A short video featuring Sonny, an ex-whale shark hunter in the Philippines who now lives of tourism.
Some underwater footage of whale sharks from our recent trip to Leyte with the LaMaVe (Large Marine Vertebrate) project. A more full documentary of our research there is coming soon. All footage shot with a Canon 5D markIII with natural light while freediving.
Just finished a video for a promising new fair trade company, Lumago Designs. Lumago Designs makes quality jewelry out of upcyled and recycled materials, the jewelry is made and designed by the women living around the Dumaguete dumpsite. It truly is a sustainable livelihood project that these women and the founder can be proud of.
New showreel with footage from the past two years now online. As hard as it is to cramp a lot of stuff I’ve filmed this past two years into a few minutes, these were some of my favorite moments.
Just finished editing a short compilation of some of 2012 highlights. I feel fortunate to have been part of so many great conservation projects last year. This year will bring more big animals and conservation projects.
The Thresher Shark Research and Conservation Project is a great NGO based in Malapascua. They study the pelagic thresher sharks that frequent Monad Shoal and the impacts of the fishing and tourist industry. Check out this short video of some of the work they do.
Another video of a turtle release, this time it was olive ridleys that were about to be headstarted, a not so good practice. Luckily we managed to set the hatchlings free after two days.
Video behind the sea turtle release a few days ago. This is by far not the only facility that has turtles in captivity so I hope this release serves as an example for the rest.
Here’s a video of some of my personal highlights beneath the sea in 2011, for more videos you can visit my vimeo account by clicking the logo in the player.
