ABOUT
Steve De Neef is a visual storyteller drawn to the rhythms of the sea. A cinematographer, director, and photographer, he moves seamlessly between worlds—diving beneath the waves, soaring above the coast, and standing at the water’s edge, capturing the deep connections between people and the ocean.
His work, spanning from solo explorations to large-scale productions with National Geographic, Disney, PBS, and the BBC, brings marine science, conservation, and untold stories to a global audience. Whether filming a newborn sperm whale nursing for the first time or documenting the shifting tides of the Gulf of Maine, Steve’s lens reveals the beauty, fragility, and resilience of our blue planet.
A TEDx speaker and award-winning filmmaker, his images and films have inspired audiences worldwide. Based on the Maine coast with his wife, three kids, and their pup, he continues to chase the tide, the light, and the stories that need to be told.
